The United States tried to destabilize and destroy the Soviet Union “in the womb,” beginning with an invasion of Russia shortly after the Bolsheviks took power 100 years ago -- a fact of which most Americans are ignorant, said Dr. Gerald Horne, the prolific author and professor of history and African American studies at the University of Houston. “Many of our liberal, labor and radical friends are not even aware of the history of the their own ideological tendencies,” said Horne.
