Ajamu Baraka is the national organizer of Black Alliance for Peace and a contributor to Black Agenda Report. He serves on the Executive Committee of the U.S. Peace Council and leadership body of the United National Anti-War Coalition (UNAC) and the Steering Committee of the Black is Back Coalition. He joins us to discuss the recent election results in Colombia, South America, where Gustavo Petro, became the new president, and Francia Marquez, vice president. Their Historical Pact is the first leftist formation to win in that country.

Savannah Eldrige is the founder of Coaliton to Abolish Slavery in Texas an organization devoted to ending slavery and involuntary servitude. She is also the founder of Be Frank 4 Justice which provides support for the incarcerated and their families.

Renato Freitas and others joined in national protests over the killing of Congolese immigrant Mugenyi Kabagambe, who was beaten to death after demanding back wages he was owed. The killing was caught on video and sparked outrage throughout the country. Freitas and others protested peacefully but false accusations and racism led to his impeachment. Carol Dartora is also a black city councillor in Curitiba and a candidate for Brazil’s congress. Brian Mier is Brazil correspondent for the TeleSur English TV news program From the South. Brian Mier also provided English interpretation for Carol Dartora. Carol and Brian join us from Brazil.
