Samah Sisay is an attorney and an organizer with the group Survived and Punished, which advocates for the rights of criminalized survivors. She joins us from New York City to discuss the case of Tracy McCarter, who will be tried for murdering her abusive estranged husband. A judge refused to allow a charge of manslaughter, which prosecutors belatedly supported. During his campaign Manhattan’s district attorney promised not to prosecute abuse survivors but his record in office is different.
