Black Agenda Radio · Biden and Congress Uphold Washington DC Colonial Status

Netfa Freeman is an organizer with Pan African Community Action based in Washington DC, which is working on a campaign for community control over the police. He joins us to talk about the DC city council decision to change some of its criminal statutes, and mayor Bowser’s veto, which they were able to override. But DC does not have home rule, and members of congress vow to undo the council’s decision. President Biden claims to favor home rule for Washington but said he will sign legislation which will overturn the council’s bill. Netfa Freeman joins us from Washington to discuss.
