Palestine 2023: Black Agenda Report Special Issue

Black Agenda Report gives special attention to events in Palestine, as Israel continues its occupation of Gaza and practices the war crime of exacting collective punishment on a civilian population.

As we prepared this issue of Black Agenda Report, the world learned that hundreds of patients were killed in a bombing of the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza. In recent days the United States and its NATO allies doubled down on "unconditional" support of Israel while people all over the world mobilized to protest the occupation of Palestine. France and Germany banned pro-Palestinian protests, American politicians rushed to Israel to pledge funding greater than the $3.8 billion already allocated. As Joe Biden prepared to arrive in Israel the Al-Ahli Hospital was destroyed with Israeli officials initially taking credit for the attack but later the same day claiming that a Hamas missile was responsible.

Black/African people have historically been the most supportive of the Palestinian cause, even as politicians like Cory Booker and rich celebrities like LeBron James pledge fealty to apartheid Israel. The anti-imperialist cause is solidly opposed to Zionism and must center Palestine in its struggle. The Black left are censored and deplatformed while the oppressors demand that the oppressed make statements legitimizing their own suffering. This issue covers all of these topics and more.
