Hurricane Aid Earmarked for Puerto Rico Debt Service

The appointed board that controls Puerto Rico’s finances is trying to divert hurricane relief aid to pay off the islands debt, according to a report by the Center for Economic and Policy Relief. “They want to cut more from health services, and cut education spending and all sorts of other public services, to put this money aside” for debt service, said CEPR researcher Lara Merling.
