Police Unions VS the Public, Mass Incarceration VS Restorative Justice

Flint Taylor, co-founder of the Peoples Law Office in Chicago, who has represented the victims of police and political violence for 45 years explains the role of police unions, public defenders, the problems of supposedly progressive candidates who claim more cops will solve problems, and what restorative justice might look like.
Among much else, Flint Taylor is the author of "Blood On Their Hands: The Racist History of Modern Police Unions," and helped author model legislation now before Chicago's City Council that would guarantee reparations to the victims of police torture.
The new laws are part of a larger trend of conservative, right-wing efforts at the state level designed to counter the goals of social movements.
