Who Pays the Bills at Black Agenda Report?

We are a lean (but not mean) operation that runs on the donations
of fewer than two hundred people. A couple dozen commentators and
journalists regularly allow us to publish their work at no cost, and
three of us put in as many hours as we can writing,
reporting, editing and maintaining the site.

We
would like to revise the site to facilitate audio and video
podcasting. We intend to equip ourselves to process and present timely
and important interviews like this week's interview with the author
of the Age of Oprah, in print, audio and video. Equipment and
bandwidth costs money. BAR travels to important events like this
week's National Conference for Media Reform, at which we will do a
presentation on Holding Black Radio Accountable to Black Communities.
That costs too.

What
donations don't cover at Black Agenda Report, we do out of pocket or
not at all. With a readership of about 25,000 each
weekly issue, continued steady growth and 86 issues under our belt, Black Agenda Report
is in no danger of going away.

We
have shown there is an audience for real reporting, for cutting edge
commentary and incisive analysis. But we could do more of what we
do, and do it better, with more support from our readers.

Freedom
of the press belongs only to those who own the press, and meaningful
freedom of speech only to those who can find an audience, and sustain
over time a broadcast, print or other enterprise. Black Agenda
Report has rejected advertising from and on behalf of both the Obama
and Clinton campaigns because we will not be beholden to anyone but
our consciences and our readers.

But
we do need your support. So please click one of the PayPal icons at
the top, bottom or sides of this page. Visa, MC and Amex are all
accepted too. Keep Black Agenda Report out here.

Freedom
ain't free.
  And neither are we.

Thank you.

As the empire crumbles, the neoliberal capitalist order run by a corrupt duopoly is working to silence dissent. The Black left, of course, is always the first target.
