The International Department of the Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of Kenya issued a statement of support in response to the recent decision from the Kenyan High Court declaring the deployment of Kenyan police to Haiti unconstitutional.

The International Department of the Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of Kenya issued this statement in staunch solidarity with the January 26th, 2024 High Court ruling in Nairobi, declaring the deployment of National Police Services (NPS) officers to Haiti unconstitutional.

Judge Chacha Mwita's articulate decision represents a crucial victory for constitutional principles and sovereignty. The acknowledgment that the National Security Council and NPS lack authority to deploy police beyond Kenya underscores the imperative of upholding the constitutional framework governing our government's actions.

The ruling exposes the imperialist underpinnings of the government's decision, highlighting the distortion of President Ruto’s foreign policy. Amid Mr. Ruto’s public declarations of defying court orders, the CPK emphasizes that Kenya's constitutional progressiveness is often manipulated by the dominant class, demonstrating their selective interpretation or outright disregard when it conflicts with their interests.

We commend the Thirdway Alliance Party for its legal action challenging the deployment, showcasing the power of people's resistance against imperialistic manoeuvres. The court's recognition of the illegality of the deployment reflects the dedication of individuals and groups advocating for justice within Kenya and internationally.

President William Ruto's claim that the deployment aligns with Kenya's international obligations raises suspicions about the true motives behind such actions. The CPK asserts that these decisions by the ruling party serve foreign interests alone, portraying Ruto as a captive man shamelessly becoming a puppet of the North American ruling class. The CPK reiterates that Haiti requires no foreign intervention; this crisis is orchestrated by the core group of the US, Canada, and France, aiming to maintain hegemony and settle scores with Haiti for its historic slave revolution against French rule.

The CPK expresses unwavering solidarity with the Haitian people, emphasizing its commitment to justice, sovereignty, and resistance against imperialist interference. We call on progressive forces worldwide to unite against actions compromising nations' sovereignty and exploiting crises for geopolitical gains.

In light of this ruling, the CPK urges the Kenyan government to respect the court's decision, abandon any plans for the unconstitutional deployment of police officers, and redirect efforts toward addressing domestic challenges faced by our citizens. Anything less will inevitably propel the struggle to the streets.
