In this week’s segment we have a discussion about gun violence. The killer of three Black people in Florida was treated for a mental health condition, but should that be considered as the cause of the act when he espoused racist violence in his manifesto? Also, post conviction review can lead to exonerations, but that process is difficult to navigate. Proposed legislation in New York would change the process and give claimants a better chance at proving police and prosecutorial misconduct.
But first, Atlanta prosecutor Fani Willis is praised for her indictments of Donald Trump and 18 others which charge them with election interference. As an Assistant District Attorney Willis also prosecuted 11 Black educators, charging them with a RICO criminal enterprise, when it was alleged they changed standard test scores. One of the women prosecuted by Willis tells her story.
