Freedom Rider: Time for Russiagate to End

Freedom Rider: Time for Russiagate to End
Freedom Rider: Time for Russiagate to End

Russiagate is a scheme meant to give Democrats popular support without doing anything the public want them to do.

“Democrats like the system just fine the way it is and don’t want to give the public any ideas about change.”

After two years of investigation, special counsel Robert Mueller will finally speak directly to the public when he testifies before the House Committees on Intelligence and the Judiciary on July 17. Democrats turned what has been labeled Russiagate into a get out of jail free card. They didn’t have to explain how they managed to lose to Donald Trump as long as charges of Russian meddling could be used as to excuse their failure.

Mueller’s report on charges of Trump campaign collusion with the Russian government shows that nothing of the sort took place. All he could muster was a useless indictment against Russians he claims are intelligence operatives. These people will never be seen in an American courtroom. The indictment was nothing more than a cynical farce.

Mueller and his team neglected to interview several individuals who could have put this story to rest once and for all. Mueller insists that Russian agents hacked the Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails and gave them to Wikileaks. Julian Assange has always said that the material was leaked, not hacked. Former British diplomat Craig Murray says he met the individual who provided the documents.

“All Mueller could muster was a useless indictment against Russians he claims are intelligence operatives.”

This information is hardly secret, as Assange and Murray have consistently made the same statements since 2016. Assange was easy to find, having been given asylum in the Ecuadorean embassy in London. But no one approached the men who would be able to disprove the story of Russian hacking. Of course that is exactly why they were never approached. Russiagate is too valuable a commodity to be given up by an honest investigation.

The Democratic majority on the committee will surely pose questions to Mueller that allow them to continue their hoax. Sadly, the public will be dependent upon right wing racist Republicans like Louie Gohmert and gadfly Devin Nunes to ask the hard questions. The contradictions, the paradox of the Russiagate story is that Republicans are the ones being truthful. Of course their goal is to protect president Trump. Their cause is not a noble one at all.

But when Russiagate is the issue it is the Democrats who are the worst liars. They are the ones who have damaged their electorate, the media and international relationships in their effort to excuse the debacle of their own making. Russiagate is a scheme meant to give them popular support without doing anything the public want them to do.

“Russiagate is too valuable a commodity to be given up by an honest investigation.”

The deification of Mueller should come to an end after he testifies under oath. He has waffled between saying that Russia interfered but not with the help of Americans, but perhaps there is proof of obstruction, but he can’t indict a sitting president, but maybe Congress can impeach him anyway. That nonsense is an indication that as the saying goes, he’s got nothing.

All the drama is needless because Trump has left a vast trail of impeachable offenses in the wake of his career. He was a corrupt businessman and has personally profited from his presidency. There are many roads that can lead to the same result but that is not what Democrats want to do.

They stirred up the public with a goal of electoral victory in the 2018 midterm elections and succeeded in winning back the House of Representatives. But Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic party leaders can’t put the genie back in the bottle. Democrats across the country now expect impeachment and are demanding that the leadership put up or shut up.

“Trump has left a vast trail of impeachable offenses in the wake of his career.”

The only useful outcome of Mueller’s testimony would be if the Democrats finally decide to fight back with the truth instead of with ginned up hoaxes. So far they have pursued the easy way out of throwing dirt but not daring to fight Trump where he is vulnerable. They follow the same losing strategy of wanting to win without taking on the people they pretend are their opponents.

Republicans impeached Bill Clinton with no intention of removing him. Their goal was to throw enough dirt to make Al Gore vulnerable in the 2000 elections. They did just that. He lost enough votes to make it easy for the Republicans to steal the rest and eke out an electoral college victory.

“Democrats throw dirt but don’t dare to fight Trump where he is vulnerable.”

Impeachment without removal could do the same for the Democrats but they want no part of a political fight. They want to nibble around the edges just enough to get out the vote and claim easy victory. They like the system just fine the way it is and don’t want to give the public any ideas about change.

The democrats will find a way to make Russiagate live on into the 2020 election where it can be the most useful to them. Doing otherwise would raise very hard questions that they want to avoid. Mueller’s appearance should put the ruse to bed forever but that is unlikely to be the case.
