Prisoners at Brooklyn, New York’s infamous Metropolitan Detention Center endured days with “no heat, no food, no water” during a power failure last month. A federal inmate with the Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee who calls himself John Brown 912penned an essay on prisoner abuse during the breakdown. “You don’t reform oppression,” he wrote, “you abolish it.”
