South African Pan-Africanist Victor Lungelo carefully maps the links between “Hitler’s Heirs:” Fascist South Africa and Zionist “Israel.”
The equation used to be Zionism = Apartheid. It was a formulation that drew attention to the racist practices of two of the most notoriously racist states, South Africa, under the policy of Apartheid, and “Israel” in its current formation. Yet these days, Zionism = Apartheid seems a little hackneyed and feeble and almost quaintly liberal in its formulation. It does not attend to the raw, unrestrained, and insouciant murderous brutality of both states — and it is oblivious to zionism’s genocidal mandate. Indeed “apartheid,” which means “separateness” or “apartness” in Afrikaans, was not premised on the complete elimination of the African as the African was necessary as the laboring and serving class to the white settler population. (Although, most certainly, for many white South Africans, elimination would have been preferable). Yet what Palestinians have always known, and what is now becoming clear to the rest of the world, is that Zionism is not about separation, or even Apartheid; it is about the absolute elimination of Palestinians on a biological, cultural, and historical level. There is no other reason to murder both children and poets and destroy both hospitals and universities.
In this light, Zionism does not equal Apartheid. Zionism equals Nazism.
Zionism equals Nazism. And, as the South African Pan-Africanist Victor L. Makyekiso once wrote, Apartheid South Africa and the Zionist state both share philosophical origins, genocidal mandates, and often personnel with Nazi Germany. In a 1969 essay titled “Fascist South Africa and Zionist “Israel”—Hitler’s Heirs,” Makyekiso carefully plots the links between the three entities – down to the twisted use of religious claims to justify state violence. Makyekiso also points to the ways that zionism serves “the selfish interests of international imperialism led by U.S. Imperialism.”
Makyekiso’s essay was first published in the International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions’ ICATU Review (October 1969) and reprinted in March 1970 in Africanist News and Views, a journal of the Pan-Africanist Congress of Azania. We reprint the essay below as it lends a certain clarity to events of the past and the genocide of the present, while reminding us of the correct formulation: Zionism equals Nazism.
Fascist South Africa and Zionist “Israel”—Hitler’s Heirs

Nazism and Zionism are two indistinguishable philosophies in as far as the source from which they draw their inspiration and in the manner in which they operate for the realization of their goals.
Fascist, white supremacist South Africa today is a citadel of Nazism in Africa whilst fascist, racialist “Israel” is a bastion of Zionism internationally. “Israeli” Zionism and South African Christian Nationalism manifest themselves as religious movements of a people that have a covenant with God. Thus, the scriptures are deliberately twisted and corrupted to serve the selfish interests of international imperialism led by U.S. Imperialism.
Nazi Germany under Hitler believed that the Aryan race was a “God-Chosen’ race that would, by mutation, result in an unprecedented exaltation of the human race and the “apparition of a new race of heroes and demi-gods and god-men” [Source: Dr. Achille Delmas: Hilter, essay de biography psycho-pathologique]. This notion of a mutation crops up again and again and is not yet extinct today. The South African regime and the “Israeli” Zionists similarly pander to this belief of performing an act of mutation which will result in an unprecedented exaltation of their races.
Nazi Germany had secret societies of the “initiated”, the German Veil Society and the Thule group. These societies were there to mould the minds of the German people in the Nazi fashion and to victimize The Who did not conform.
“Israel” has multiple Zionist Societies functioning clandestinely in various countries as pressure groups that do not stop at kidnappings and murder to achieve their purpose, whether it be the murder of other nationals impeding “Israel’s” Zionist aspirations or the elimination of innocent Jews who reject Zionist aims. Or, those who are killed deliberately for the purpose of evoking sympathy for the Zionist cause by rousing the old scare-crow of anti-semitism.
The fascists in South Africa have the Broader Bond Society which is well known for its sabotaging of the war effort by South African troops under General Smuts during the Second World War. The present Premier of South Africa, J.B. Vorster, was interned during the war for being in contact clandestinely with the Nazi General, Rommel, of Hitler’s Africa Corps then operating in the Sahara desert. This society victimizes white recalcitrants and murders Africans in order to reduce their numbers.
Zionist “Israel” and fascist South Africa further share the attribute, with Nazi Germany of being war-like. They both claim to have fought for liberation in their romantic struggles — the so-called Anglo-Boer War in South Africa and the so-called struggle of the Jews in Palestine immediately before the foisting of “Israel” in the Arab heartland by usurping the lands of the Palestinian people.
Other common attributes between these two states that have been deliberately created by imperialism is that just as South Africa obliterated the African villages of Bulhoek and Bondelswarts with a rain of bombs from low flying aircraft in the Cape Province and South West Africa, “Israel” does so now in the lands she usurped from the Arabs in Palestine, Gaza and in Jordan. Just as South Africa goes on with large numbers of indiscriminate arrests of Africans and arbitrary sentences, so does “Israel” with Arab inhabitants of lands she usurped.
This “new race of heroes” now stands poised to launch a war that will shock humanity by its dimensions and cruelty. This racial arrogance of a surplus belief in a race of supermen, of god-men, plunged the world into a war in 1939.
Nazi Germany evolved under the nose of a “civilized” humanity and launched a world war piece-meal until she was in a position to challenge the entire world. Germany shocked a world that should have known what was brewing within her borders. Imperialism was prepared to encourage this mystical, spurious belief of the “god-chosen” ones because it facilitated the exploitation of other people. Today, imperialism has not changed its features, it still backs “Israel” and South Africa for the same reason.
Lord Belfour did for the Zionists what Lord Chamberlain did for the Nazis in Munich. “Israel” and South Africa go on prattling that their countries are there to protect western interests against communism. The Arab and the African people will not fold their arms in the face of this megalomania. The forces of imperialism led by the United States, blinded by their insatiable lust for quick fortunes, never learn. The Arab people in Palestine together with their brothers in other Arab states are today dealing heavy blows on the Zionists. The African people in South Africa have grasped the truth that “political power grows out of the barrel of a gun” and are heightening their guerrilla struggle.
MUTUAL ASSISTANCE
The South African Jewish Board of Deputies and affiliated Zionist organizations in South Africa have contributed large sums of money to “Israel” over the past years. During the 1967 war of aggression against the Arab States alone, over 40 million dollars were sent from South Africa to “Israel.” This had to be approved by the Nazi regime of Vorster because of South Africa’s monetary restrictions. Furthermore, several hundred South African Zionists took part in the war as “volunteers.” All this was done with the approval and moral backing of the South African fascists. It is needless to mention that these ones are wrung from the exploitation of African cheap labor in South Africa.
This money is derived from the super-profits made from the ruthless exploitation of the African people by the Zionists in South Africa.
TORTURE
The fascist beatings and electric torture of African prisoners in South African jails are being carried out with the efficiency of modern technology. Laterly, the ZIonists in “Israel” have been employing similarly crude methods of torture against the Palestinian resistance fighters. Recently a protest was lodged with the United Nations and the International Red Cross by the UAR of a Nazi-style sadistic surgical operation of a Palestinian prisoner of war in “Israel.”
A UAR physician, Dr. Gamal Samy, revealed recently at a press conference that the testicles of a Palestinian, Abdul Kader Derbas, were removed in a hospital in Haifa immediately after the June 1967 war of aggression. Derbas was arrested during thewwar, interrogated, thus revealing, under torture, his true Palestinian nationality. He was then taken to a theatre and drugged before being operated upon by an “Israeli” Dr. Mordehchai. On release he found that his house in Gaza had been demolished and killed. He later escaped to Jordan and to the UAR where he has been living under failing health conditions, continuing to live only by hormone injections.
This is only one of the heinous acts typifying the racist rule of “Israel.” South Africa’s barbarous acts in jails were recently given publicity in the marathon trial of Lawrence Gander, Editor-in-Chief of the Johannesburg morning paper, the Rand Daily Mail, together with his chief reporter, Benjamin Pogrund, when charged for publishing material in contravention of the Prison’s Act. Sterilization by attaching electric al contraptions on to the testicles of detained political prisoners was cited as one form of torture during the trial.
That South Africa is pursuing Hitler’s policies is understandable because the present rulers were cooperating with HItler dug in the 1939-45 war when they were in the opposition party in South Africa. That “Israel” pursues similar policies is surprising considering Hitler’s pogroms against the Jews until one understands the evil forces inspiring Zionism. The Jews were encompassed in a web that had been spun by a few Zionists amongst them. Hitler had to direct his venom against the Zionists, unfortunately all the Jews suffering as a result thereof, because Nazism and Zionism are jackals of the same lair, two sides of the same coin, one feeding on the other. The stronger survived by almost wiping out the other. Were Zionism in a similarly strong position the Nazis would have faced the same fate.
COMBATIVE SOLIDARITY
The forces of Nazism and Zionism now stand nakedly exposed in the eyes progressive humanity as two hand-maidens of imperialism led by the Phantom-supplying U.S. imperialism.
The African people of South Africa and the Arab people have now been galvanized together by a common struggle against a common enemy. Since their cause is just the fraternal bonds of solidarity that binds them cannot be broken by anything, least of all, imperialist machinations that try to preach that our struggles are different. As we have now isolated the enemy and exposed him for the entire world to see, we must move on into combat knowing that victory is on our side.
