Blacks, DACA, and Immigration

Blacks, DACA, and Immigration
Blacks, DACA, and Immigration

Donald Trump recently rescinded DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. DACA protects those minors that undocumented family members brought to America -- and keeps them from being deported.

The National Association of Social Workers suggests that DACA rescinding effects 800,000 persons. Working class black people need to support protests and resistance to this cruel act.

Former President Obama initiated DACA through an executive order five years ago. He is the same president that deported hundreds of thousands undocumented workers. Trump’s track record pales compared to Obama’s reign as jail king of immigration violators.

The demagogic President Trump said in his White House statement, “Before we ask what is fair to illegal immigrants, we must also ask what is fair to American families, students, taxpayers, and job seekers.” His false argument claimed that DACA, as part of part of failed immigration laws and lower wages, creates higher unemployment, burdens public services and drives up crimes, with billions of dollars in costs footed by U.S. taxpayers.

Some Black workers, too many white workers, and middle-class wannabes say that undocumented workers -- all immigrants -- are taking jobs away from Americans. They buy into “Make America Great Again” schemes.

“Trump’s track record pales compared to Obama’s reign as jail king of immigration violators.”

Much has to do with a segment of capitalists’ need for undocumented workers. The PEW Center estimates that undocumented workers number about 11.1 million people. Why are there so many undocumented workers, you ask?

Big businesses’ low wage jobs rely on super exploited workers they call illegal aliens. Undocumented workers at the same time are expected to accept their tenuous plight to avoid being deported.

The wealthy one percent that runs this country, although split regarding divisive tactics, remains united as exploiters that place profit before human need.

When the capitalists and others say “God bless America” they need to say God bless the three Americas. One America profits from the national economic and racial oppression of blacks, browns and our Muslim sisters and brothers as well as the white working class. A second America, made up of middle class and wannabe toadies of the rich, ride the One Percenters’ backs. These urchins seek opportunistic crumbs that fall from the table. They provide the amen corner. The other America is the exploited and super exploited. We Blacks know this America very well.

Immigrants are not the blame. Capitalism is. It fails all of us. We Blacks need to join our immigrant sisters and brothers. Say no to deportations and yes to amnesty for all immigrants. Say yes to a $15 an hour minimum wage or higher.

All for a world without borders.
