As a consequence, the African continent’s most resource-rich and geographically strategic nation has been plagued by a “physically scarred and corrupt political culture,” said Carney.

African Monarch on the Ropes

A democracy movement in the southern African nation formerly known as Swaziland is demanding that King Mswati III step down from the throne, said Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of Pan African News Wire. More than a score of people have been killed in protests largely led by the Communist Party of Swaziland, “which has considerable influence in the opposition Youth Congress,” said Abayomi, who was interviewed by Tierney Sheree, of Africa Esquire TV.
