Black Is Back Coalition Holds National Conference in St. Louis

Che Guevara’s call for ā€œone, two, many Vietnamsā€ to resist US imperialism has been answered in the 21stcentury by the rise of China and a multi-polar world, said BAR executive editor Glen Ford, speaking at a national conference of the Black Is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations. Omali Yeshitela, leader of the African People’s Socialist Party and chairman of the Black Is Back Coalition, told the conference, ā€œWe have to build a steel cadre that is willing to make revolution our profession.ā€

Trump Isn’t Special: All US Presidents Support White Supremacy

William C Anderson, author of a recent article titled, ā€œUsing Patriotism to Deflect Racism is a Deadly Mistake,ā€ said ā€œthe Oval Office is quite familiarā€ with white supremacists like Donald Trump. ā€œIt misses the point to say things like, ā€˜Trump is disrespecting the office or lowering the standard of the presidency,ā€™ā€ said Anderson, ā€œwhen this has always been a white supremacist position.ā€

Jim Crow Still Lives in Hollywood

The US film industry is more open to Black themes and participation than in the past, but still has not answered the question of what kind of society it will project, said Maryann Erigha, a professor of sociology and African American Studies at the University of Georgia, and author of the new book, ā€œThe Hollywood Jim Crow: Racial Politics of the Movie Industry.ā€ ā€œIs it a sanitized whiteness, is it a whitewashed vision, or can we have this unapologetic Blackness, and that just be part of the American cultural canon?ā€

Black Agenda Radio on the Progressive Radio Network is hosted by Glen Ford and Nellie Bailey. A new edition of the program airs every Monday at 11:am ET on PRN. Length: one hour.
