Many Black families teach their kids about race and racism, but “white families don’t do that,” said Jennifer Harvey, a professor at Drake University and author of “Raising White Kids: Bringing Up Children in a Racially Unjust America.” As a result, “there’s a gaping silence in white culture around antiracist white parenting,” said Harvey. Her book’s mission is to help raise a multigenerational set of youth that are committed to racial justice.”
