A Negro Speaks Of Dems

by BAR poet in residence Raymond Nat Turner

Ev-ev-ry f-f-four y-years I-I get n-n-nervous and start r-r-ringin’ my hands

Wh-when they ask, “Wh-wh-what if th-th-the B-B-Bogeyman Commands?”

W-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-well I-I-I g-g-gets j-j-just a l-l-lil’ bit outta sort

Th-th-thinkin’ a-a-about the B-B-Bogeyman and t-the S-S-Supreme Court…

An-an-and I-I-I g-g-get a-a-a l-l-lil’ b-b-bit m-m-more than n-n-n-nervous

T-t-thinkin’ how l-l-like Indians the B-B-Bogeyman might Re-Reserve Us…

I-I-I’m s-s-so sc-sc-scared th-th-that I-I-I’m a-a-about t-t-to un-un-unwind

Hm…guess organizing militant mass struggle never even entered my mind!
