In the final analysis, the overwhelmingly white rally against the “Islamicization of America” is “just your garden variety racism,” said Larry Holmes, of the Bail Out The People Movement. Imadi Ajamo, of the December 12th Movement, one of about 60 speakers at the rally, pointed to the Tea Party’s rich backers. “We need to know who is bringing these right-wing people” into Manhattan. Nearby, the activist group We Are Change held a four-day conference to assess the status of movements for social change. Speakers included former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney.
