Why Black Agenda Report (and Your Support For It) Matters

We ask tough questions, and we try to do what journalists should  always do --- tell the truth without fear or favor, the truth that equips citizens to stand up for themselves, to look out for their own interests.

We won't be sending anyone to the Republican convention this week because McCain and Bush are not part of the black conversation, except as evil clowns, one armed with nuclear weapons, the other reaching for them.  We sent Glen Ford to Denver's Democratic convention not to follow the worshipful crowd, but to look with a fresh eye at the demolition of Dr. King's Dream by marketers and militarists who fundamentally oppose his actual life's work.

Where else besides Black  Agenda Report did you discover 10 Reasons Why 'Save Darfur' Is a PR Scam to Justify US Intervention in Africa?  Where else did you learn Who Killed Black Radio News, or why?

Dr. Robert McChesney is quite right when he points out that real journalism requires full-time professionals and the protection of powerful  institutions.  But until those institutions are built, and until better financial models come along, Black Agenda Report depends on your contributions to keep going.

We especially appreciate recurring and consistent monthly contributions, which you can make by clicking the link at the top of this page.  We deeply appreciate our readers, those who have encouraged us with tips, suggestions, and offers of technical assistance, and those who have generously contributed so far.  Thanks to them, Black Agenda Report isn't going away any time soon.  One donor has ensured that we will be able to cover expenses for several days of reporting on the digital TV transition, a story that mainstream media continues to studiously ignore.

Still, we need your continued support, and some new help to expand our efforts, to revamp our web site, and to do more original journalism, as opposed to commentary.  Journalism is more work, and costs more. But you won't find much of it anywhere else.
So take a moment, click the top of the page, and send us a one-time gift of $20, $50 or $100, or a recurring monthly donation of $10, $20 or more.  That's how we stand.  Or fail.
