The nation’s best known political prisoner noted the passing of Dr. James Cone, the renowned Black scholar who played a central role in the development of Black liberation theology. Mumia Abu Jamalcited Dr. Cone’s book, Malcolm and Martin in America, in which Cone wrote: “Anger empowers the poor to declare their uncompromising opposition to oppression, and humor prevents them from being consumed by their fury.”
