Venezuela Under U.S. Attack

On January 3, 2026, the U.S. conducted a military attack against Venezuela and kidnapped president Nicolas Maduro and his wife, First Combatant Cilia Flores. Since that time interim president Delcy Rodriguez, said to be under a secret indictment, has acquiesced to demands such as turning Alex Saab over to the U.S., allowing the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) to operate in Venezuela, giving the U.S. control over oil revenues, and reestablishing ties to Israel. William Camacaro provides analysis on what he calls a neo-colonial structure.
