“The problem for the Green New Deal” is that the Democratic leadership in Congress “won’t let it happen,” said Howie Hawkins, a possible Green Party candidate for president. “That’s why we need a Green Party out here, making sure it gets addressed.” Hawkins ran for governor on a “Green New Deal for New York” platform back in 2010.
