The Democrats’ flirtations with Medicare for All and taxing the rich are just “talking points for the 2020 elections, to be dropped and forgotten afterwards,” said Dr Anthony Monteiro, the Duboisian scholar. The Democratic Party is struggling to regain legitimacy among its base, but real change requires a mass movement against capitalism.
