US to Blame for Slavery in Libya

By overthrowing the government of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, the U.S. “created the conditions” that led to the return of slave auctions in Libya,” said Omali Yeshitela, chairman of the Black Is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations. Washington attacked Libya largely because Gaddafi was a Pan-Africanist “who advocated a United States of Africa,” said Yeshitela.

Elections Don’t Necessarily Change a Damn Thing

A key strategist among the Black radicals that were behind the election of two Black mayors in Jackson, Mississippi, says his fellow activists have a decision to make: “Are we trying to be a good steward of the rules as they exist -- which I think is a complete waste of time -- or are we pushing for transformation of society?” asked Kali Akuno, of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement and Cooperation Jackson. Akuno warned against falling into “the Syriza trap,” in which radicals wind up carrying out the policies imposed by banks and big business.

Mumia: U.S. Obsessed with the Gun

In an essay for Prison Radio, the nation’s best known political prisoner praised the works of Native American historian Roxanne Ortiz-Dunbar, including her latest book on the roots of the country’s obsession with firearms. “America is a creation of genocide, slavery and mass death,” said Mumia Abu Jamal. “The gun, far more than the Bible, made this so.”

U.S. Exposed as “Lawless Rogue” State

The imminent defeat of U.S.-backed jihadists in Syria and Iraq has led to the formation of a “peace bloc” of nations opposed to Washington’s wars, said British journalist Vanessa Beeley. “Now we have Turkey and Qatar basically joining the China-Russia-Iran-Syria-Lebanon-Iraq axis,” said Beeley, an associate editor for 21st Century Wire. The U.S. has been “exposed as the dishonest, lawless, rogue state that it really is,” she said. Russia, on the other hand, is known as “an honest international player.” Beeley was interviewed on the Taylor Report, on CUIT Radio, Toronto, Canada.
