In this week’s segment, we discuss the Delaney Hall immigration jail in New Jersey. Detainees have been on hunger strike in protest of inhumane conditions, and protests and arrests have taken place at that site. Delaney Hall exemplifies the contradictions of the U.S. hosting the World Cup, with the New York/New Jersey stadium located near this corporate-run prison. But we begin with a discussion of the World Cup and the restrictions on athletes, fans, and officials who have been banned from entering the U.S., even before matches begin. The actions of the U.S. and FIFA make the case that the 2026 World Cup should not be hosted by the U.S. and that the U.S. itself ought to be boycotted.
