Another Sentimental PSYOP
Raymond Nat Turner, BAR poet-in-residence
12 Dec 2018
Another Sentimental PSYOP
should auld acquaintance be forgot...

Prelude:
One Warlord croons,
“Bomb, bomb, bomb—bomb, bomb Iran—“
another Warlord solemnly chants, in
Spanish, “Yes, we can!”

A Warlord of Wall Street and Washington
Lies ensconced in scribbling and inTeflon
Canonized by high priests of the Pentagon
By holy prophets of Boeing and Raytheon

Gaslighted peoples’ revisionist romance
Shock and awe, pomp and circumstance
Such sophisticated, sentimental PSYOP—
But Same Old Song: “Good Cop, Bad Cop”
A blood-stained warlord more discreet
Compared to crassness of Boss Tweet…

Interminable days of nostalgic amnesia
Psychological operation sans anesthesia
Theater concealing demonic suction tube—
With huge budget resembling Rubik’s Cube

Head-fixers work weaponizing mortality—
Weeks of air-brushing blood red reality
Like Fox-box foot soldiers’ faux solemnity
Ignoring millions murdered minus indemnity

Militaristic, maudlin, highly produced dreck
Leaving folks too bamboozled to fact-check
Murderous policies presidents espouse
From the Offal Office of The War House
Where millions of gallons of crimson spilled
From the men, women and children killed!

Another ardent defender of ill-gotten gains,
Another unbroken link in empire’s chains…
Basking in glory of a thousand points of light—
Yes, he served the rich with all of his might…
