Funded partly with federal money intended to curb drugs, Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s secret police imposed hyper-surveillance on Muslims in nearby Newark, New Jersey and other out-of-state localities. “It is as if the police saturated every Italian-American neighborhood, restaurant, business, social club, church, school, and playground in order to find out more about the Mafia.”

African Americans have always been systematically associated with crime in America, as a means of making them outlaws in their own land. Since 9/11, Muslims have been systematically linked with terrorism, in an attempt to depict the entire group as a clear and present danger to the American state. It should come as no surprise, then, that the internal logic of a racist and repressive society leads the U.S. to place Black Muslims under extraordinary surveillance. You can find a lot of Black Muslims in a place like Newark, New Jersey, which is why the New York City police have for years been sending undercover officers out of their jurisdiction to spy on Newark.
Top local Democrats express outrage at the surveillance, which kept track of the goings on at such dangerous centers of terrorism as an African American school for first- to fourth-grade kids, and a Black all-girls private school in Newark. The NYPD sent spies into restaurants and neighborhood groceries, and saturated every mosque in the city with agents and informers – what the secret police call “mosque crawlers,” which sounds to my ear like a kind of cockroach.
Top Democrats in New Jersey, including Newark’s Mayor, Cory Booker, say that they’re angry at New York City. Senator Robert Menendez wants U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to do an investigation. But President Barack Obama’s administration is actually paying some of the bill for the cops that New York sent to spy on Newark and localities throughout the region. New York City diverts millions of dollars in federal anti-drug money, overseen by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, and spends it on surveillance of Muslims. The federal Department of Homeland Security hands out millions to the NYPD, but refuses to discuss how the money is spent. And Attorney General Eric Holder's top civil rights lawyer has repeatedly refused to comment on the civil liberties implications of New York’s vast surveillance program. Clearly, the Obama administration’s silence means consent.

There is nothing ambiguous about the NYPD mission. It is designed to target whole communities as nests of terror. The surveillance is largely carried out by what is called the Demographic Unit, whose purpose is to spy on a whole demographic slice of residents, in this case Muslims, to map out how they live in minutest detail, and to record who is saying what to whom. In practice, it is as if the police saturated every Italian-American neighborhood, restaurant, business, social club, church, school, and playground in order to find out more about the Mafia.
Of course, such police state tactics would not be tolerated by Italian Americans, or by their fellow white Christians. But, when Muslims – and, especially Muslims who are Black – are targeted for hyper-surveillance…well, that’s a different story.
When little Black girls at the Al-Hidaayah and Al Muslimaat academies, in Newark, are placed under anti-terror surveillance, then we know that genocide is not beyond the realm of possibility. When undercover cops make note of the ethnicity of every person who enters a mosque in New York City, or Newark, New Jersey, then we know that whatever solution the police have in mind to whatever problem they think they have, is an ethnic and racial solution.

This is just an assumption by me
Along with spying on politically aware Blacks/whites, and Black/arab Muslims, I think the NYPD/CIA/FBI is spying on Chinese-American's. Look no further than the current lynching/entrapment campaign again mayoral hopeful John Liu:

The illuminati 0.001% is obviously circling the wagon and getting rid of all potential progressive threats vying for the New York mayoral spot. John Liu is a very smart guy, why isn't he seeing the writing on the wall and letting go of his mayoral ambitions? The F.B.I. and the NYPDC.I.A. is not going to give up until he quits in order to make way for their preferred candidates (Bloomberg's poodle Christine Quinn perhaps? Or Ray Kelly?).

New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn on Monday said she supports police monitoring of Muslim groups, making her the first major potential 2013 mayoral candidate to endorse the controversial surveillance effort.
In a statement on the topic, Quinn suggested that she would continue the strategy if voters elect her to succeed Mayor Michael Bloomberg next year. “Unless we know that laws were broken or someone’s civil liberties were violated, I do not think the NYPD should stop the practice,” she said — an indication that she doesn’t believe police have breached anyone’s rights in its surveillance program based on the information that has been made public so far. . . .
Quinn, who started out her career as a housing- and gay-rights activist deeply entrenched in the rabble-rousing, liberal wing of city politics, has moved to the center over the years. She’s formed a tight alliance with Bloomberg, who is widely seen as a potential supporter of her yet-to-be announced mayoral candidacy.

I'm writing a story on Speaker Quinn's support for the NYPD spying program aimed at Muslim communities, as well as her vow to continue the policy if elected Mayor, and wanted to get her comment on a few questions. I have a deadline of 12 noon today:
(1) Would Speaker Quinn be equally supportive of an NYPD spying program aimed at Jewish communities in New York and in surrounding areas, to infiltrate synagogues and Jewish schools and groups in order to compile and store information? Does the Speaker intend to implement a spying policy aimed at Jewish communities of this type if she is Mayor?
(2) Would Speaker Quinn be equally supportive of an NYPD spying program aimed at Christian groups in New York and in surrounding areas about which there is no evidence or suspicion of wrongdoing? Should such Christian groups be infilitrated for surveillance purposes? Would the Speaker intend to implement a spying policy of that type if she is Mayor?
(3) Here is a small school in Newark for African-American Muslim students in the first to fourth grades that was photographed and surveilled by the NYPD. What is Speaker Quinn's views about why that school should have been monitored?

You beat me to the punch on this one by anticipating my response to the out of control surveillance state some people call America, and by exposing the extremely selective (biased and bigoted) nature of the surveillance. About a year ago, the mainstream press belated reported that historically Black colleges were among those institutions targeted by the FBI (and probably other unnamed police agencies) for special scrutiny. Nothing happened. None of our so-called mainstream Black leaders have confronted either the Overseer-in-Chief, or Mr. Halder at the FBI, or any of the other Black people who are ostensibly in charge about the systematic and endemic racial profiling going on in post racial America. Worse still, many Blacks who are not in positions of power remain unaware and/or indifferent to this situation, and to how dangerous it really is. My prediction is that if nothing is done to stop this abusive behavior by the state cold, right now, in 20 years or so, instead of talking about how many Blacks have been incarcerated for rigged drug laws, we will be discussing, in hushed tones of course, how many Blacks and Muslims have been disappeared without warning or charges and without any legal remedies.

After what they did to those kids in Oklahoma city & Waco, I would be very worried if I were Muslim and had kids in that school.
INDOCTRINATION VS. EDUCATION
This reminds me of similar attacks which this society has periodically launched in the past on schools which taught free Blacks after the Civil War, and again on schools which were run for Black children by the Panthers and other "militant" groups during the 1960s, and other, more recent attacks on Afroccentric teachings during the 1990s. Again and and again, America has shown that it does not wish to see most Black people educated. Indoctrination is okay, education is not. Education means an end to blanket Black submission to White people and to their agendas. Education means the creation of truly independent Black thinkers. Educated people are more likely to challenge the status quo than they are to acquiesce to its myriad injustices. They are also more likely to demand the same things from the system that other educated people from other ethnic groups demand from it, including respect for them and for their culture. The danger which the NYPD and others wish to head off is that these schools will tend to produce Black people who are not properly indoctrinated in accepting the supremacy of Judeo Christianity and in submitting to White/Western privilege. White Westerners spend a great deal of time monitoring Islam and Islamic institutions and trying to impose their version of "good' Islam on Muslims. Christians and Jews on the other hand, under the guise of religious freedom, are free to practice any variant of their faith no matter how racist or extreme it may be without fear of society or the state stepping in to impose a politically correct version of their belief upon them or their children. In spite of the hype, in America, not everyone has freedom of religion. Or is it that, like races, some religions are more equal than others?

Many of the alleged 9-11 highjackers hailed from Saudi Arabia. As far as I know, none were from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Iran. Neither Saudi Arabia nor Israel are really "friends" of America or its allies. As is natural, each of these nation states has its own Middle East agenda. It's up to us not to allow ourselves to be used or manipulated by either by them, or by their agents, or by people in this country from the 1% who have economic interests in the region, or by those whose views and political judgement are distorted by their religious convictions.
