Obama’s New Job: Guardian of Official Lies

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Having spent eight years telling lies about who the U.S. was fighting in its so-called “War on Terror” (secular governments) and who it was allied with (jihadists), ex-president Obama must now ensure that these lies become part of the “common base line of facts” shared by all Americans. “Fake news” must not be allowed to interrupt the flow of the official (false) narrative. That’s how “legacies” are made, and how power is preserved.

Maxine Waters Loses Her Mind to “Anti-Russia Dementia” – Like the Rest of the Black Caucus

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Not one Black member of Congress seems prepared to challenge the fraudulent U.S. pretext for bombing Syria – or the war, itself. Maxine Waters is the saddest case. “Who knows how Maxine Waters would vote on Trump’s air strike on Syria, since she is under the crazed delusion that Trump and Putin are in cahoots on the gassing and the retaliation?” Those whom the gods would destroy, they first drive mad -- with Anti-Russia Dementia.

Trump, Moved by Blond-Haired Victims, Surrenders to War Party

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

It’s a doomsday combination: Donald Trump, the raging racist who, nevertheless, claimed to oppose regime change and eternal tensions with Russia, has thrown in big time with the War Party – in hopes that the Deep State will spare him. Trump “will pursue the imperial military offensive that Obama initiated, six years ago, with the mad energy of a racist psychopath.” The immediate winner: al-Qaida, protected by the U.S. Navy and Air Force.

MLK and Obama: Two Diametrically Opposed Legacies

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Dr. King spoke of the Triple Evils: racism, militarism and materialism – “meaning, in contemporary society, capitalism.” However, “the decisive blow to the Black movement for self-determination and against U.S. imperialism was delivered by forces internal to the Black community”: the Black Misleadership Class. The question confronts us: “Have Black people shed their anti-imperialism and embraced war?”

“Sanctuary Cities” and Black Community Control of the Police

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

“Donald Trump’s war against immigrants is a fascist-inspired offensive that is inseparable from his plans to forcefully pacify Black America.” We must oppose Trump sending in the feds to lock up immigrants or to police the Black community. “Sanctuary is only possible when the cops are directly answerable to the people.”

Don't Give the Black Misleaders Your Vote (They'll Just Cash It In)

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The Democratic Party acts like it owns Black America. It certainly owns most of the Black political (Misleaderhip) class, who “have used their local, state and national offices to facilitate the mass Black incarceration regime at every stage of its deployment.” These servants of the police state and war need to be challenged by candidates that reflect the left-leaning politics of Black America. The Black Is Back Coalition is seeking candidates.

The U.S. Deep State Rules – On Behalf of the Ruling Class

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The various organs of the Deep State, including the corporate media, work hard to convince the public that the Deep State does not exist. (Kind of like that story about the Devil.) In fact, the Deep State runs the show. “The truth is that an oligarchy rules, and makes war on whomever it chooses -- internationally and domestically -- for the benefit of corporate capital.” It has neutralized a sitting president, less than two months in office.

Corporate Media Counting Cadence to Fascism

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The ruling class/War Party/corporate media campaign for regime change in Washington has moments of pure silliness, with grown men claiming that U.S. presidents don’t have the power to wiretap people. Someone should have informed Dr. Martin Luther King. But, if self-described “progressives” can believe that the CIA is a benign, democratic institution, they can believe anything. “The destabilization of the U.S. bourgeois state is a project, not of the Kremlin, but of multinational and finance capital headquartered in the U.S.”

Keith Ellison: Sheep-dogging Through Trumpland

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The Russian Conspiracy theorists have not yet toppled Donald Trump, but they have neutered much of the Sandernista wing of the Democratic Party. Keith Ellison lost the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee to another warmonger, and quickly joined in ganging up on Russians. “The DNC contest scenario was politically identical to last year’s presidential primary race, with Keith Ellison taking up the role of Bernie Sanders’ sheepdog.”

Black Misleadership Class: High-Speed Sell-Outs

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford
The NAACP and the Urban League want to leave Internet neutrality to the tender mercies of the Republican-controlled Congress. But that’s nothing new. The Black Misleadership Class has been selling out the people’s interests to giant telecom companies since 2006, in exchange for organizational and campaign funding. Eminently buyable, they constantly seek to position themselves close to Power -- and then cash out.

DeVos, Obama, Booker, Trump – All Enemies of Public Education

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Betsy DeVos barely won confirmation as the next secretary of education, so dreadful is the performance of the charter schools she promotes in Michigan. But the educational atrocities of the DeVos schools are inseparable from the larger war against public education. Barack Obama doubled charter school enrollment, and Cory Booker, who hopes to be president, is a fanatical advocate of private school vouchers. Trump and Devos aren’t the only villains.

If Americans Truly Cared About Muslims, They Would Stop Killing Them by the Millions

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Americans welcome only token numbers of people from countries devastated by U.S. wars of aggression. Donald Trump’s current ban on travelers affects nations that were already targeted by President Obama, “a perfect example of the continuity of U.S. imperial policy in the region.” The memo from State Department “dissenters” contains “not a word of support for world peace, nor a hint of respect for the national sovereignty of other peoples.”

Trump Will Probably Dump Police Department “Consent Decrees”

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Donald Trump is unlikely to approve of any more “consent decrees” to “reform” police departments. But this will be no great loss. As practiced, “the scheme very much resembles former Attorney General Holder’s coddling of criminal banks, under which the offending institutions were fined, but not criminally charged or compelled to admit guilt.” In most cities, police killings of Blacks actually increased or stayed the same after federal intervention.

The Obama Legacy: A Temporary Deformity of Black Minds on War and Peace

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

When Barack Obama’s legacy is fully measured, it must include his role in eroding Black America’s historical position as the nation’s most anti-war constituency. He was a Pied Piper of war, and most of Black political leadership, as well as a portion of the Black public at large, followed him into the abyss. However, “we can expect this gross deformity to be corrected once the artificial aura of “Blackness” is removed from the White House.

As the Democrats Press for War, the Left Must Demand Peace and Social Transformation

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The Democrats are whipping up war hysteria and “cynically seeking to harness people’s well-founded fears of Trump’s domestic policies in order to sabotage the possibility of a relaxation of international tensions.” Some folks have taken the bait. “Leftists that think they can exploit the split between the Trump troglodytes (fascists) and the Obama/Clinton/Old Line GOP War Party (fascists) will ultimately wind up caught in a pincer between the two.”

Locating Fascism on the Home Map

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

In decadence and decline, the U,S. has produced two strong strains of fascism that now vie for supremacy. The First Black President, now outgoing, represents the “cosmopolitan, global obsessed” variety of fascist. Donald Trump hails from an older fascist strain, “crude and petty, too ugly for global prime time.” At this stage in history, the two corporate parties seem incapable of producing anything other than fascists of one kind or the other.

The Democratic and Republican Paths to Fascism

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The masks have come off, revealing the face of fascism among the Democrats. With War Fascism supreme in one party, and White Supremacist Fascism at the helm in the other (also warlike) party, it appears that “the winner of the 2016 election was the bipartisan, multi-ethnic War Party.” The Left can’t “game” this situation, or fool with the CIA. “For Black and brown folks and white progressives, there can be no alliance with either faction.”

Corporate Democrats Stir Up War Fever Against Russia to Turn Election

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The orchestrators of the anti-Russian war hysteria “have shown over the past several weeks that they are willing, and even eager, to bring down the whole edifice of U.S. social and political ‘checks and balances’ -- freedom of speech and other civil liberties -- to sustain the momentum of their neoliberal offensive in the world.” White Republicans stole the election, as usual, not Russians. Corporate Democrats want to steal the Bill of Rights.

White Supremacy, U.S. Exceptionalism and Capitalist Dogma are All “Fake News”

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The U.S. ruling class faces a crisis of legitimacy, having no solution to any of the multiple crises of capitalism. Therefore, it is compelled to lie about virtually everything, and to call speakers of truth purveyors of “fake news.” The false narrative must be maintained because “the world is outgrowing the U.S.-led, rigged economic and political system that is the last vestige of half a millennium of colonialism and white supremacy.”

Fascism with a Democratic Party Face

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

BAR and 12 other leftwing web sites have been put on a hit list publicized by the Washington Post. Fascists of the Democratic kind are responsible. “Had Clinton won the election, she would have begun a campaign of repression against the Left along the same national security lines as the Washington Post article, with that paper probably leading the propaganda charge.” Donald Trump isn’t the only fascist to worry about.
