Tea Party is Just GOP on Racist Overdrive
“The Tea Party,” says author and activist Paul Street, “is just a bunch of really, really loud, obnoxious, more stridently racist, more stridently poor-hating, more stridently liberal- and leftist-hating Republicans than the usual fare.” Street is co-author of “Crashing the Tea Party: Mass Media and the Campaign to Remake American Politics,” due out in March. By falsely characterizing the Tea Party phenomenon as an independent “movement,” corporate media have helped to “rebrand the GOP, which is even more unpopular than Obama.”
U.S. Created Conditions for Haiti Cholera
“The United States is directly to blame for the sanctions that prevented the building of an adequate sewage system and water treatment system in the very river” where the cholera outbreak in Haiti began, said writer and activist Ashley Smith, at St. Mary’s Church, in Harlem. Smith was among the speakers at a rally and teach-in in solidarity with Haiti, organized by the Black is Back Coalition.
Obama’s Narrow Definition of Human Rights
“In the midst of this economic crisis, the United States fails to recognize economic, cultural and social rights as legitimate human rights,” says Ajamu Baraka, executive director of the U.S. Human Rights Network. “Therefore, they try to avoid the obligations that the government has to the poor and working people in this country.”

Confirms my comments on last weeks piece on Bill Clinton & Haiti
Ashley Smith's address here confirms my [along with Enlighten Cynic, Beverly & Hamadi] comments on last week's article 'Bill Clinton- Haiti's Neo-Colonial Over-Lord'. There's a myth being perpetuated that Bill [Slick Willie] Clinton the so-called '1st Black' Pres- is such a great friend [& by extension the USA] to Haiti & Black people in the US & across the world. Some either woefully mis-informed people [or they had a hidden agenda] tried to push this myth in rebuttal to the article. Again this post confirms what last week's article on Clinton & Haiti, along w I & the others named above were saying against this myth. -- Ashley Smith goes on to explain how the US & France have been ganging-up on, gangstering & impoverishing Haiti ever since Haitian Independence; -&- how Canada, the UN & even some NGOs have now gotten into the act. Haiti is a glaring example of what will likely be the result to ALL [especially Black & Brown] nations who 'adopt' [or who're gangstered into it] so-called Global 'Free'-Market Capitalism- DEVASTATION of the Masses of People to benefit a few power elites.
Though I was unaware of it previously- Mr Paul Streets comments on how Obama became the first 'Black' Editor of the Harvard Law Review by teaming up w hard-core pro-establishment elements against more progressive voices -&- also how he cut deals w hard core GOPers in the IL State Senate against progressives - explains why he as president has been BENDING Over Big-Time for the Repugs [& the Blue Dogs] in the name of so-called 'bi-partisanship', while he's been stiff-arming, arm-twisting, insulting, selling-out, etc... more progressive elements who backed his candidacy in 2007-08. Presuming Mr Street's premise is true- it shows the delusion [myth] of some of his alleged 'leftist' supporters who keep saying 'lets be patient & give Obama the chance to be Obama'. HE IS BEING HIMSELF DAMMIT--- every thing in his past career was a precursor to what he's been doing as President!!! It just wasn't explained to the people the way Mr Street explains it here.
